Amager Bakke

Copenhill | BIG

A BIG step towards green and sustainable architecture.

By covering a waste-to-energy plant with a skiing slope that can be used throughout the whole year, BIG reformed the building into a social meeting spot and a great new sight for Copenhagen. The roof is covered not only with the slope, but also a lift and a park. People can go up the sight through the park and enjoy a beautiful view over Copenhagen. Furthermore, aluminium facade of the building will function as a green wall and creates an even closer connection to the green environment. The chimney releases a ring of CO2 every time 1 ton of CO2 is being released to the air. This should help people see the effect their consume has on the environment and raise awareness.
